2017 Eagle Scout Project of the Year
Trapper Trails Council's National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) is proud to announce JT Larson as the 2017 Eagle Scout Project of the Year.
The Rotary Club of Rock Springs, WY "American Flag Trailers’ Renovation" shows respect to those who have served or are serving the United States of America, and all they have sacrificed.
For more than 50 years, the Rotary Club of Rock Springs has honored Veterans by displaying American flags outside of local businesses on national holidays. The flags are stored and transported using three enclosed trailers. The project honors the flag and benefitted the community by revitalizing the sense of patriotism.
JT (Troop #4 - Rock Springs, WY) led the effort to reconstruct the trailers.
Almost all Eagle Projects garner praise from their beneficiaries, but JT’s project solved a long standing problem for the Rock Springs Rotary Club and enhanced a program that is a source of tremendous community pride. I have not seen many projects receive the praise and public recognition that JT’s project did with the Rotarians. Their recognition extended to news articles and attendance at JT’s Eagle Court of Honor by Rotary Officers. Their comments to me at his Eagle Court helped me understand the meaning of his project to both the Rotary Club and the community.
Terry Sell - Wyoming Trails District Committee member
Once the trailers were completed, JT had the privilege to participate in the placing of the flags throughout the community with the Rotarians.
My Eagle Scout Project has given me great insight on the importance of project planning, implementing, and leadership skills that I will use throughout my life.
Eagle Scout, JT Larson - Troop #4
The NESA Commmittee has submitted JT's project to the Western Region's NESA Commmittee, for consideration of a $500 scholarship for furture educational purposes or to attend a national or international Scouting event.
