Why Participate

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make moral and ethical choices over their lifetimes.  We do so by instilling in them core values such as character, self-reliance, and honor that help them to be participative citizens and qualified leaders. Proceeds from these events help provide scouting experience to over 52,000 youth including camping programs at 9 council camps, scouting programs to youth through partnerships with the YMCA and Boys and Girls Clubs, and weekly scouting programs taking place in nearly 4,000 units across the Council.
