Earn Your Spike

Trapper Trails Council is pleased to provide a recognition program designed to engage Scouts in the sesquicentennial celebration of the Transcontinental Railroad.  Download the program requirements.


Earn your Spike by learning from the wealth of resources coupled with the proud local heritage of the transcontinental railroad!  From web-based material to site visits and/or a hike, being a part of the celebration will be easy and memorable!  Scouts may be able to achieve other badge and rank requirements  by participating!

Requirements are geared to be completed with as a Scout unit or family.  Patches may be picked up at your local Trapper Trails Service Center.


Units are invited to stay at Camp Fife (located in Box Elder County) on May 3-4 and May 10-11, 2019. Stay overnight at Camp Fife, and explore the Golden Spike National Historic Site the next day!

  • Packs - partipate in the railroad-themed bike rodeo on these dates at Camp Fife
    • Cost: $5 per person (no cost for adults)
    • Time: Arrive at 9am and finish by 12noon.
  • Troops & Crews - camp and enjoy the spring weather - no program will be provided. Arrival 4 pm on Friday. Depart 9 am Saturday.
    • Cost: $25 per group
